🧡 A Bond Forged in Childhood
My friendship with Craig began in 1988 when we were just 8 years old. He had just moved to Bridgwater, and from the moment we met, something clicked. We bonded over music, films, and the joy of being kids in a simpler time. That early friendship laid the foundation for something much deeper.
🫂 A Brother-ship Beyond Words
Life took us down different paths, but we always stayed connected. When Facebook came around, it made reconnecting even easier. In 2012, our paths crossed again in a way that changed everything — we ended up living under the same roof.
That time together reminded me of the bond I felt in the Royal Navy. Living with Craig felt like a brother-ship — someone who always had your back, shared your laughter, and never judged.
⚡ Craig’s Courage and Character
Craig had already been diagnosed with MS, but he never let it hold him back. He met life head-on, with a quiet strength and incredible resilience. He was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I’ve ever known.
🎱 Our Traditions
We had many shared loves, but one stood out: the World Snooker Championship. Every year, we watched it religiously. Ronnie O’Sullivan. Mark Selby. Shaun Murphy. We’d sit, analyse the matches, debate the shots — it was our thing, and it meant more than just sport.
🎸 Music That Defined Us
Rock and metal were our heartbeat. We bonded over Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Alice in Chains, and even the ethereal sounds of Mike Oldfield.
Our trip to Sonisphere Festival 2014 at Knebworth Castle was unforgettable. Five epic days surrounded by the music we loved — Iron Maiden and Metallica played under the stars. Pure magic.
💔 Saying Goodbye — Too Soon
Craig passed away on 29 June 2024, aged just 44. I still can’t believe he’s gone.
But I feel him with me — in every run, in every step, in every challenge I face. Especially now, as I go through my own health battles, I remember Craig’s strength, his humour, his refusal to give in.
When it gets tough, I hear his voice in my head saying:
“Wayne, you’ve got this.”
🕊 Rest easy, Craig.
To infinity and beyond.
You’ll always be a part of this journey.
A hero, and a true friend forever in our hearts.
